Mission Valley San Diego

Home to San Diego's hotels, shopping, and sports

Mission Valley San Diego is home to the San Diego river, along with lush hillsides, and panoramic views. The historic Mission San Diego de Alcala, dating back to 1769, overlooks its namesake valley, and is known as the first of the great California missions.

But Mission Valley, while beautiful, is hardly rural. Home to the largest concentration of hotels in the region, Mission Valley is a great place to stay, just minutes from downtown and Seaworld and literally down the hill from Balboa Park and the world famous San Diego Zoo.

Most of these hotels are located in an area known as Hotel Circle, which is located in both sides of Interstate 8, the main transportation route through Mission Valley. Hotel Circle is very convenient to most of the main sights, and is a great place to stay.

Mission Valley is also home to some great shopping at the wonderfully redesigned Westfield Mission Valley Mall, an outdoor mall with great stores, movie theaters, and dining, all conveniently located next to Hotel Circle.

In addition to its great hotels and shopping, Mission Valley is also home to Qualcomm Stadium, home of the San Diego Chargers and other area sports teams. Formerly known as Jack Murphy Stadium, Qualcomm also hosts numerous concerts and other events.

The San Diego Trolley conveniently runs through Mission Valley, providing easy access to downtown and points as far south as the Mexico border and Tijuana and is a great way to get around without having to drive.

Mission Valley San Diego, while nestled in the heart of the urban area is quite naturally beautiful and makes a great home base for your visit to the city.
