When it comes to tourism, San Diego has it all. And there are just so many things to see and do in this city that you want to make sure you cover all the absolute must-see attractions.
I've created this list to help you do just that. This list highlights the Top Ten things to do in San Diego and its vicinity, drawing from every kind of attraction: theme parks, zoos, museums, beaches, and more.

View from Point Loma
So here are the Top Ten attractions in San Diego:
10. Seaport Village - dozens of shops and restaurants on the gorgeous waterfront.
9. Coronado Island - a short ride over the bridge to this quaint little seaside town.
8. Seaworld - the best marine mammal shows plus rides and exhibits. Tons of fun.
7. Balboa Park - an incredibly beautiful park with great museums, right by downtown.
6. San Diego Maritime Museum - tour (& ride) clipper ships, a soviet sub, and more!
5. Point Loma - the best view in town, great tide pooling, beaches, and historic sites.
4. La Jolla - One of the most beautiful places on earth. Beaches, shops, and more.
3. Old Town and Mission San Diego - wonderful historic sites, shops and restaurants.
2. San Diego Zoo - The best zoo anywhere. You can even stay overnight! A must-see.
1. San Diego Wild Animal Park - The next best thing to a safari! You have to go there.
All these places should really be on anyone's list. but if your visit is short, make sure you see the zoo, Old Town, La Jolla, and Point Loma (the Wild Animal Park is about 50 minutes north of downtown).
Two places I left off the list that I really want to mention are the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum (next to the Maritime museum), and Legoland, which is about 40 minutes north of downtown.
A great new addition, the Aircraft Carrier Museum is home to the USS Midway, the nation's longest serving aircraft carrier. You can tour the ship at your own pace, and it is a truly incredible experience.
Legoland is great for families with kids. Go in the early spring to see the famous Carlsbad flower fields in full bloom as you approach the park.
So have fun planning your trip to San Diego. When it comes to tourism, San Diego really has most other cities beat.
I hope you have a wonderful vacation!
